We're Back! Lets get the ball rolling!

Canadian Artists Fighting Against Cancer

------

Our Goal
Our goal is to gather a community of artists together to donate some of their art to be sold, with all of the profits going to the The Canadian Cancer Society in a very similar fashion to how *ArtistsForCharity have done to raise money for The Unicef.
Our full intentions are to contact people in radio, TV & print to see if we can start a tidal wave throughout the entire country to help raise money through art.

Ambitious? I know. But it has to start somewhere right?

WOW! It's been a while and I realize a lot of you have probably lost interest because of this. I do appologize (I've done this before haven't I? :)) This holiday season proved to be a very hecktic season! Just to let you all know what's going on so that you can understand the rate in which we will be going, Over this holiday season a LOT of very exciting/time consuming things either happened or began.
First off the season itself was the busiest I've experienced in a while, seeing my family and my family in law (kinda, more on this in a moment) multiple times to get them all in.

I also became engaged, which is INCREDIBLY exciting, but time consuming without a doubt as I have to meticulously plan a wedding on a fairly small budget (So if you have tips or ideas, I'M OPEN TO THEM! Just note me on my personal page *chelley815) for next January.

Plus I was made aware last friday (When I fully intended to re-start this project, but got delayed once again) That I was to be returning to school this monday that just passed! The school thing was rather out of left field for me, I was under the impression that If I got approved for funding that I would be starting on the 19th of January (Leaving me plenty of time to prepare for school, and get this rolling again), however in my meeting with the company that's funding my return to school they made it aware that I would infact be starting school on the 9th... To say the least last weekend was a rush, between bridal shows and getting mentally and physically prepared for my return to school after a 5 year hiatus.

I do hope that this will help you understand that we will be continuing this project without a doubt, but It might just take a little longer than orriginally anticipated! :)

NOW TO THE BUSINESS AT HAND

CAFAC needs you, we are still on the search for your work, and other Canadian's like you. We need you to refer us to everyone you know, and ask them to do the same. We have an amazing start to our membership list but just a few more names will boost our status and help us in our quest.

So in closing, Welcome to 2006, lets work together to make this a year for new beginnings and fantastic achievements in the name of helping others!

Hope to hear from you all.

Michelle *chelley815

PS> Submissions are still welcome, PLEASE contact me *chelley815 at anytime to let me know of any peices you would like to add, and don't forget to check out our submission procedure [HERE]

I would like to appologize to everyone for the inactivity of this community. As I celebrate Christmas (Happily might I add! :D) This time of year offers many challenges with personal lives and getting together with family and all sorts of parties and general celebrations all over the country it would seem! ;) So I think what works best for right now for everyone's sakes, We will be putting the project on a partial hold until January 3rd.

By partial hold, I mean we will still be checking in on the community every now and then to make sure things are still happening, but nothing substantial will be happening during this time frame.

This time off should allow all of you fantastic artists to scheme up some WONDERFUL talented peices for our venture (hint hint nudge nudge)

So in conclusion, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Channukah, a Wonderful Kwanza and just in general a Fantastic Holiday season. (I hope that covers everyone out there, and If I didn't name your celebration that occurs this season, it was in pure ignorance and I would LOVE to hear from you and learn about your celebration and wish you the best one yet :D)

PS> Submissions are still welcome, PLEASE contact me *chelley815 at anytime to let me know of any peices you would like to add, and don't forget to check out our submission procedure [HERE]

It is time to begin submitting your works!

So it's been a little while since any of us have written on here. I just want to let people know we are still working hard behind the scenes here, and I would like to send out the open invitation for you to Submit your work to the community.

NOW We are going to be following a different submission set up than I've ever found on dA, but I think it will work very well for us.

How To Submit Your Peice to CAFAC
:bulletred: #1 - Submit your peice to your Gallery as normal
:bulletred: #2 - Contact me *chelley815 either here or on my personal account with the title "Submission" in the subject line of your note, and please provide me with a direct link to your deviation.
:bulletred: #3 - If you are submitting prose or poetry of some sort, consider finding a buddy or someone to combine your form of art with theirs (A beautiful poem on a beautiful photograph would make for a gorgeous amalgamation of the two) If you have a photograph in mind that is not yours, you may contact them (As long as they are Canadian) or if you'd like I can do it for you.
:bulletred: #4 - I will then place your deviation in our "Random Favorites" gallery.

That's right, There is no REAL submission of your art JUST yet. The reason for this is rather simple. (A) it's easier to keep the legalese straight while starting this if we aren't liable for your work (Just yet). (B) It will allow =feetpeet =seranatra and I *chelley815 to review all of your works and from them select the peices that we believe will do best in sales for the community. SO SUBMIT AS MANY PEICES AS YOU LIKE

We would also like to invite all of you to browse through the favorites that we will begin to accumulate and feel free to contact us letting us know which peices really draw your eye and would like to see go to print.

Thank you to EVERYONE who has joined us, and don't forget to spread the word to your fellow Canadian artists (By birth or at heart) to check us out and consider joining our Cause. :)

A Message from Michelle *chelley815

Hello everyone. We have grown in number since last I wrote on this journal, and to all of our new members I would like to say hello and welcome to our fantastic community.

As you can notice all three of us have been working very hard behind the scenes to get a solid foundation built so that this venture can work like a well oiled machine.

I personally have been handling all of the recruiting of talent for the community (Talent meaning all of you wonderful members). If you are viewing this community and have not been contacted by us directly, PLEASE DO NOT FEEL OFFENDED, I have been searching for Canadian dA members using my limited time and resources, so I have not been able to find all of you.

I would like to point out all of the different sections set up in this journal, including all of our external and internal links, as well as our member's list and what each of us admins are responsible for.

I hope that this structure allows you to find the necessary information faster and easier. However, if you have any suggestions (Keeping in mind we don't have a subscription quite yet) feel free to contact any of us directly, or through the community (Please take a look at our responsibilities though if you have a suggestion pertaining to a specific portion of the community).

Once again I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone involved, (Admin, Contributors & Members) and I am positive that we have the beginnings of something amazing here. :)

-Michelle

I have just created our chat, Chat which you can idle in when you are on dA. Hopefully I will be able to linger in it whenever I am on the internet incase anybody has any immediate questions or concerns.
My next mission: Find somebody that is willing to make us a stamp for the club in general and one for the chat :D

A Slow Start...

Mon Nov 28, 2005, 9:27 PM
If you would like to make a donation Directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, you may do so through their website Here We have provided a direct link for ease of finding, but if you feel more comfortable directing yourself (Which is entirely understood) Their main webpage is www.cancer.ca
-------------------------------
So, We seem to be having a slow start. But that's okay, I'm not too concerned.

The bottom line is that we are trying to raise money for a great cause and Frankly I doubt people will pass this up once they know about it.

I do hope that if you are viewing this page, and are Canadian, and thinking that MAYBE you'd like to participate in this, why don't you put a watch on us, and I promise to show you many fantastic reasons for why you should help out in days to come.

I'd once again like to thank =feetpeet for volunteering as an Admin. I would also like to thank ~I-Am-Canadian-Eh for affiliating themselves with us.

I would also like to welcome our new watchers *Destro7000 and *ariadne-a-mazed and =Ewynn

I will be taking strides to find more Canadian artists who might be willing to join in our cause in the coming days, so hopefully our watch list will grow exponentially :)

Once again, although we are now only few, I have no doubts in my mind that this could vastly become one of the fastest growing communities dA has had in a while - we just need to make the right contacts with the right people.

Thank you everyone.

~*~UPDATE~*~

We would also like to add a HUGE Thank you to *neek-zique Who so GRACIOUSLY made us the most kick @$$ Icon I've seen in a while! Thank you SO MUCH!

~*~UPDATE Nov.28 @ 6pm EST~*~

I would like to give a great bit WELCOME to our newest Admin =seranatra, She has volunteered to assist =feetpeet and I (*chelley815) work through this venture and with her knowledge of HTML she should be able to assist us very well.

I think that perhaps =feetpeet =seranatra and I (*chelley815) Should all come up with a quick blurb about who we are and why we're here. Ladies.. Lets make this something GREAT!
